Juba Dance - Florence Price
Juba Dance is the 3rd movement of Florence Price's 1st Symphony, written in 1931/32. The Juba dance is based on a West African dance style which involved body percussion and is seen as the basis for tap dancing.
Hoedown - Copland
Hoedown was written for the ballet Rodeo and features two square dance tunes. A hoedown is a dance competition with the evening gradually becoming more lively.
Rondeau - Purcell
Rondeau was written by English composer Henry Purcell as part of the music to accompany a play, Abdelazer. It's in the style of a French Rondeau so uses repeated sections. Section A is the main melody, with Sections B and C adding new tunes - AABACA.
